School Reviews

The following reviews and comments have been received by our school –

…ISE and other IB World Schools could be developing the blueprint for an educational mindset that meets the needs of tomorrow’s economy, society’s challenges and students’ self-fulfillment. (IB World Magazine – May 2011)

Your staff is outstanding. I have never been to a place where the teachers put this much emphasis on student progress and keeping the parents updated. Your staff’s level of professionalism is simply outstanding and a ‘wave of fresh air’ compared to what we have dealt with in the past. (Britt Skaggs – parent)

A newly-hired teacher here in Venezuela, and current fishing partner, has spoken glowingly of your school. His experience in Moscow allowed him the opportunity to become familiar with many schools in Eastern Europe, and he believes yours is one of the finest. (Job Applicant)

Not only does (ISE) feel like home with an amazing atmosphere of warmth and kindness, it also offers an excellent education in the form of the International Baccalaureate program, by teachers who genuinely care about your learning and progress. The relatively small size of the school allows for something that is impossible in most, big schools – a very personal relationship with the teachers, who can give you their almost undivided attention. They taught me not only how to write essays, but also a lot about life in general. I consider myself very lucky and still sometimes find myself wishing I was back at ISE. [Alexandra Chlon (Poland, Class of 2008)]

It is so amazing that the teachers and students develop such personal relationships. It is so clear from the moment you enter the school that your teacher actually cares whether you succeed or not and puts so much input into helping you understand, improve and work on your studies as well as enjoy them. This behavior seems to occur naturally here. It really motivates you to do your best. [Katrín Justyna Alexdóttir – student (grade 11)]

We were very happy with the school, especially with the math teacher. Our grandson, Boris Oks, excels in Mathematics in his new school. (Mr. Boris Oks – grandfather of former student)

Having spent the first ten years of my school life at the International School of Estonia has given me a good base in terms of education. Having spent the majority of my time as a student at ISE was a great and rewarding experience. I had formed many friendships both with the students and teachers. The friendly atmosphere not only allowed me to make many friends, but also to flourish in terms of my academics. When I came to the UK in 2008, I didn’t know what to expect. It was definitely a challenge, attending the only new school in my life at that time, and if that wasn’t enough, it was in London. But as I slowly began to grasp the concept of GCSEs I understood that most of the things that I was meant to do that year, I had already learnt at ISE. The preparation I received at ISE allowed me to do my GCSEs in one year and achieve 4A*s and 3As. I believe that only because of ISE was this possible. Currently I am in twelfth grade at Brighton College, one of the top co-educational schools in England. The base that I built up in Estonia, allowed me to also flourish in my A-levels, and that is why I am applying to universities such as Edinburgh, the London School of Economics, and Oxford. I recently talked to a friend who is still at ISE and she told me that she is also applying for the same course as me at Oxford. She also told me that another boy who now lives in Poland, and who was in our class in ISE a couple of years ago is also applying for the same course in Oxford! Now the world seems so small to me, but this is only because ISE opened so many doors. (Ella Pushkarjova, ISE student 1998-2008)

The grade 3 class at ISE (the Magical Minds) had this to say about their school (March 2011) –

  • ISE is like happiness, filled with love and kindness.
  • ISE is a ship full of travelers on the ocean of learning.
  • ISE is a store full of writers, mathematicians and artists.
  • ISE is a writer with a pencil, revising and changing over time.
  • ISE has a handful of kids filled with good attitudes.
  • ISE is a land of learners.
  • ISE is a house full of giggles.
  • ISE is a friendly planet, with people from around the world.
  • ISE is like a hospital where everyone is cared for.
  • ISE is like a big, friendly, fuzzy animal because it’s kind and smiley.
  • ISE is sweet like knowledge. (a reference to Thank You, Mr. Falker by P. Polacco)
