International School of Estonia

Upper School

The International School of Estonia secondary school (grades 6-12) is a comprehensive program accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). ISE is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma to students in grades 11-12. ISE is a full participant in international school organizations such as the European Council of Schools (ECIS) and the Central and East European Schools Association (CEESA).

The Middle School Program at ISE serves students with a college preparatory program comprised of seven equally weighted core strands: English, Language B, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, Fine Arts and Wellness. These strands are taught by teachers of 10 countries with over 150 combined years of teaching in international schools around the world. 66% of ISE teachers hold advanced degrees – double the international average. The curriculum is based on the highest of international standards allowing students to explore each subject area with breadth and depth. Instruction aims at developing higher order thinking skills and preparation for success in the IB Diploma program.

The ISE Diploma Academy offers the IBO Diploma and the ISE Diploma. 95% of ISE students in grades 11 and 12 are enrolled in the IB Diploma Program, and 90% of those complete the full diploma with most achieving a bi-lingual certificate. (This compares with the international average of 80%.) ISE students have been accepted to 25+ universities worldwide, including Oxford, the University of Strathclyde and the University of Moscow.

Creating an environment of care and compassion are an integral part of the ISE Mission. A teacher student ratio of 5 to 1 helps to make this happen. Students with special needs have access to a support team that individualizes education plans and accommodates the needs of differentiated instruction. Our program is a leader to small schools in the region with our program coordinator offering trainings and school implementation plans.
