IBO Mission

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

IB programmes:

  • have a strong international dimension
  • draw on content from educational cultures around the world
  • require study across a broad range of subjects
  • include both individual subjects and transdisciplinary/interdisciplinary areas
  • give special emphasis to learning languages
  • focus on developing the skills of learning
  • provide opportunities for individual and collaborative planning and research
  • encourage students to become responsible, active members of their community

Why IB at ISE?

ISE was the first school in Estonia to be authorized as an IB world school and has been teaching the IB curriculum for over 20 years. The ISE staff is highly trained and experienced in the IB, some of whom also work for the IB as examiners.

IB research shows that students in the PYP show higher levels of well-being compared to similar non-PYP students and MYP students perform significantly better than students from non-IB schools in the International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) areas at several grade levels. CP and DP course students demonstrated higher levels of global mindedness as compared to their peers in six countries across the world. DP and CP students also often enroll in some of the most selective universities in the world.

Our experience shows our students who go onto other schools being highly successful, whether returning to the United States or attending other international schools around the world. Students who participate in IB programs generally find that they exceed their peers in areas of critical thinking, creativity, presentation skills, depth of learning and global awareness. The approaches to learning skills allow students to obtain any information and content effectively in and outside school settings and help in transitioning between different national and international curriculums.

Students who are with us for their final two years of schooling have had a 100% IB Diploma pass rate over the past years, many of which are attending prestigious universities worldwide.

An IB diploma is recognized by more universities worldwide than any other program diploma. It is well documented that students with an IB diploma perform much better in college than their peers.
